EMPOWERING CHANGE
A different life's journey of impact
In the inaugural episode of a different life's journey, we embark on a compelling journey of hope in the realm of social change. Episode 1 serves as our gateway into our vibrant organization, offering an intimate glimpse into its inception and core mission. In the following episodes, we'll traverse the landscape of our initiatives and activities, shining a light on the diverse array of programs and projects that are making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
Our mission
Established in 2014, a different life has flourished as a dynamic collaboration between Germany and Ghana, standing as a beacon of empowerment among young individuals. As a non-governmental, non-profit organization, our core mission revolves around fostering education and healthcare opportunities for youth, enveloped within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Some achievements
Our journey, spanning several years of dedicated service, reflects a steadfast commitment to transformative action. Across diverse sectors and regions, we’ve consistently achieved remarkable milestones. From implementing vital dry toilets & hygiene training programs for schoolchildren in Ghana to pioneering the establishment of a crucial blood donation center in Guinea-Bissau, our impact reverberates far and wide
Moreover, we’ve catalyzed change by spearheading initiatives such as the creation of boarding schools providing sanctuary and education for teenage orphans in Tanzania and Kyrgyzstan. These endeavors encapsulate our unwavering dedication to uplifting communities and empowering young minds.
Our current initiative
In 2019, we identified a pressing need for enhanced infrastructure to support formal and informal learning among the youth in Agona Nsaba, located in the Central region of Ghana. In response, we launched a specialized youth program aimed at addressing this need. To ensure its sustainability, we established a subsidiary NGO, a different life Ghana, charged with managing both the construction and day-to-day operations of the youth hub.
Construction on the youth hub began in June 2022 and is nearing completion. The operational launch of the youth hub is slated for early 2025.
What does the youth hub offer?
Our youth hub program is anchored on four pivotal projects: information technology training, sewing workshops, libraries, literacy and recreation, and reproductive and sexual health care. This comprehensive approach is designed to cultivate an environment that nurtures creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking among our youth.
From entrepreneurship and leadership training to fostering skills in the creative arts, technology, and community engagement, we will provide a spectrum of opportunities for growth and empowerment.
Central to our methodology is a community-centric ethos, emphasizing transparent communication, inclusive decision-making, and the building of trust. Through this approach, we seek to catalyze positive change, instill a sense of ownership, and forge enduring partnerships that drive sustainable impact within our communities.
We are here because of you
Our journey has been propelled by our vibrant and passionate community. Key stakeholders, including leaders and residents of the Agona Nsaba traditional area, played a pivotal role in securing a site for our youth hub. We extend heartfelt gratitude to the 11 architects who volunteered their expertise to craft this architectural masterpiece. Special acknowledgment goes to our organizational partners, Leapfrog e.V., for facilitating funding through Stiftung Nord-Süd-Brücken, which has been invaluable in realizing our vision. Additional support from partners like Fimshare, who donated furnishings for our library, and Voith, who contributed to the completion of the youth hub, has been instrumental in our success.
